Fire resistant putties are designed to provide a visual and fully auditable method to firestop small gaps around service penetrations (0-10mm wide) in walls and floors, as well as lining plastic and metal electrical back boxes. Traditionally, small gaps around services have been filled with fire rated sealants with no control on the depth of sealant or backer used. Putties allow services to be easily sealed in areas where sealant guns are difficult to use. In a fire, putties form an insulating sacrificial ash layer barrier.
