When Fire Strikes, Every Second Counts

The biggest threat in any building fire is how quickly it spreads — often fuelled by layers of old, combustible paint. Even on non-combustible surfaces like plastered walls and ceilings can accelerate fire growth and smoke production. That’s why upgrading to a fire-rated coating like Protecta® Interior Paint FR-1 is essential.  It helps neutralise the risk, slows flame spread, and reduces smoke

Why BS EN 13501-1 Matters More Than Ever

Class 0 fire ratings will no longer be accepted under Approved Document B in England. The UK is phasing out the outdated BS 476 system and fully adopting the European classification standard BS EN 13501-1 — a far more detailed and reliable approach to fire safety.

This means only products tested and classified to BS EN 13501-1 will be considered compliant.
