Protecta FR Board Raised Access Floor Barrier
Underfloor Fire Safety – Reimagined
Protecta’s FR Board Raised Access Floor (RAF) Barrier is a tested and certified solution designed to restore compartmentation and fire integrity in underfloor voids. Created for modern buildings where services often pass beneath raised access floors, the barrier provides an essential line of defence against the spread of fire, smoke, heat and sound.
Why Underfloor Compartmentation Matters
Raised access floors are common in offices, schools, data centres and public buildings. They simplify cable management and allow service flexibility—but they can also create large, open cavities that allow fire and smoke to spread unchecked.
The Protecta FR Board Raised Access Floor Barrier solves this by subdividing these voids, maintaining fire compartments and preserving the integrity of partitions by ensuring they continue through the floor space.
Key Benefits
- Fire Compartmentation
The FR Board Raised Access Floor Barrier creates a certified linear seal below floor level, even with service penetrations present. It maintains the fire rating of partition lines and helps stop fire from spreading through hidden voids. - Enhanced Safety
By containing fire and smoke beneath the raised floor, it slows the spread of fire between zones—critical for safe evacuation and reduced property damage. - Tested and Certified
The system is tested to EN 1366-3, -4 & -12, certified via ETA 22/0771 and UKTA 22/0034 for blank seals, and ETA 22/0733 and UKTA 22/0025 for penetrations. - Fire Resistance
Blank linear seals achieve up to EI 120 / E 120 using a single 100mm FR Board (2-sided) for barriers up to 600mm high. - Flexible Installation
- Can be installed before or after raised floor tiles
- No minimum separation needed between services, except where wraps are required
- Suitable for all service types listed in the ETA/UKTA, including PVC, metal, PP, PE and composite pipes
- Tested for Cables and Cable Trays
In addition to pipework, the RAF Barrier has also been tested and certified for cables and cable trays, further enhancing its versatility and relevance for service-heavy buildings. - Acoustic and Energy Performance
Reduces flanking sound transmission and helps manage airflow in plenum applications, contributing to energy efficiency and acoustic comfort. - Clean Cable & Service Management
Helps contain and route services neatly beneath the floor without compromising on fire safety or access.
Applications
- Commercial and government buildings
- Offices and open-plan spaces
- Schools and universities
- Data centres and server rooms
- Hospitals and public sector sites
