Protecta FR Pipe Wrap is designed to maintain the fire resistance of fire-separating walls and floors when breached by plastic pipes, conduits, or metal pipes with continuous combustible insulation.
It is suitable for drywalls, masonry, and concrete walls and floors, offering a reliable solution for a wide range of firestopping scenarios.
Typical Applications
- Classified for PVC-U, PVC-C, PE, LDPE, MDPE, HDPE, ABS, SAN+PVC, and PP pipes
- Approved for fire sealing in all common wall and floor constructions
- Fire resistance ratings up to EI 240 (integrity and insulation)
- Emission-free formula for safer indoor use
- 25-year working life guarantee
Each pipe wrap contains a graphite-based intumescent strip that expands when exposed to heat, closing the opening left by softening plastic pipes or pipe insulation in a fire. The wrap is installed completely around the pipe or insulation and secured with a self-adhesive tab. The surrounding annular space is sealed using Protecta EX Mortar or Protecta FR Board for a complete firestop.
I am to fire seal a plastic pipe, but it is not a standard PVC, PE or PP pipe. Can I use the general instructions for plastic pipes?
Yes, in most cases. Where PVC pipes are mentioned, this includes PVC-C and PVC-U pipes. Where PP pipes are mentioned, this includes PP -MV, PPH, PP-R and similar if the pipe is according to EN 1451 -1 or DIN 8077/8078. Where PE pipes are mentioned, this includes PE -LD, PE-MD, PE-HD, PE-X and similar according to EN 1519 -1, EN 12201-2 or EN 12666-1.
I have a penetrating pipe made of iron, but it is not mentioned in the instructions, what do I do?
Iron is the base metal of steel, so use the instructions for steel pipes.
I have a special fire seal that is not mentioned in any of the solutions, what do I do?
