Protecta® FR CPVC Sealant is installed around CPVC pipe penetrations to the dimensions specified in the relevant tested system.
Before installation, ensure the surface of the pipe and surrounding construction is free from dust, grease and loose contaminants.
Where required, an appropriate filling or backing material approved by the pipe manufacturer can be used to achieve the correct width-to-depth ratio and help reduce shrinkage during curing.
Apply FR CPVC Sealant generously to the required depth, avoiding air bubbles, and finish the surface using a moist spatula, palette knife or brush.
Depending on the tested application, FR CPVC Sealant can be installed as a standalone penetration seal or used in combination with Protecta® FR Board or Protecta® EX Mortar.
The required sealant depth, annular gap, pipe dimensions and supporting construction vary according to the tested system. Always refer to the relevant Installation Instructions and tested detail before installation.
Important: Only Protecta® FR CPVC Sealant should be in direct contact with the penetrating CPVC pipe.

Protecta® FR CPVC Sealant is an application-specific acrylic-based firestopping sealant developed for CPVC sprinkler pipe penetrations through fire-rated walls and floors.
The product has been formulated with chemistry that does not react with or damage CPVC pipework. It has been tested by NSF in the USA and is approved for use with Lubrizol BlazeMaster® sprinkler pipes.
When exposed to atmospheric conditions, the sealant cures while retaining a degree of elasticity to accommodate joint movement. When subjected to fire, thermal activation takes place above 200°C, causing the material to expand and form a durable intumescent char that helps prevent the passage of fire and smoke.
Tested configurations are available for CPVC pipes up to Ø73mm, including installations both with and without CPVC pipe sleeves. Depending on the tested configuration, fire resistance classifications up to EI 180 can be achieved.
FR CPVC Sealant can be used as a standalone penetration seal and in tested systems incorporating Protecta® FR Board or Protecta® EX Mortar, providing solutions across a range of wall and floor constructions.
The sealant is simple to apply, requires no primer on most materials and produces a smooth surface finish. It is suitable for most common porous surfaces, including concrete, masonry and gypsum, as well as non-porous materials including metals, glass and plastics.

Is FR CPVC Sealant approved for BlazeMaster® pipes?
Yes. Protecta® FR CPVC Sealant has been tested by NSF in the USA and is approved for use with Lubrizol BlazeMaster® sprinkler pipes.
Will the sealant damage CPVC pipework?
FR CPVC Sealant has been specifically formulated to avoid deleterious effects on CPVC pipes. Its compatibility with CPVC pipework has been tested by NSF.
Can FR CPVC Sealant be used with Protecta FR Board?
Yes. Tested systems are available combining Protecta® FR CPVC Sealant with Protecta® FR Board.
Does FR CPVC Sealant require a primer?
No primer is necessary on most materials. Surface preparation may be required for particular substrates or conditions, so the Installation Instructions should always be followed.
What surfaces can FR CPVC Sealant be applied to?

The product’s ETA and UKTA are based on EAD 350454-00-1104 and testing to EN 1366-3 in conjunction with EN 1363-1.
