Protecta FR IPT is a high-performance, flexible fire-rated sealant with tested fire resistance of up to EI 240 (4 hours). Designed for professional use, it seals joints, gaps, and service penetrations in both walls and floors, while forming an airtight and watertight seal that accommodates structural movement.
Formulated with Inert Polymer Technology, FR IPT delivers excellent adhesion to most common building materials—often without the need for primer. It’s ideal for a wide range of internal applications, offering professionals a versatile, all-in-one solution for firestopping and interior sealing tasks.
FR IPT cures with minimal shrinkage, remains stable over time without yellowing, and can be painted once dry. Its low-VOC, solvent-free formula ensures safe use in indoor environments—both during installation and long after.
Typical applications:
- Firestopping of joints, pipes, and cables in walls and floors
- Firestopping where high movement capability is required
- Versatile indoor sealing without fire resistance requirements
What types of pipes and cables are approved with FR IPT?
FR IPT is tested and approved for:

What fire resistance does Protecta FR IPT achieve?
From EI 30 to EI 240, depending on the type of service penetration, dimensions, insulation, joint size, and type of construction. For detailed approvals, please refer to the installation guidelines.
Can FR IPT be used around multiple pipes in one opening?
Generally, only one pipe per opening is allowed. There are exceptions for cable bundles. Always refer to the approved details in the manual.
What is the minimum joint width?
FR IPT is intended for gaps between 10 and 30 mm. In some cases, openings below 10 mm may be acceptable if depth and backing are sufficient. Note: For plastic pipes, 10 mm is a strict minimum. This is detailed in the approved drawings.
I am to do a fire seal in a swimming pool area and need something moisture-proof, what should I use?
For smaller seals, you can use either the Protecta FR IPT sealant or the FR Putty Cord. For larger seals you can use Protecta FR Board, but after you have sealed the gaps and openings with FR Acrylic, apply a layer of FR Coating on top of the acrylic.
Protecta FR Acrylic has European Technical Assessments – ETA 22/0751 and ETA 22/0750– issued under EU Regulation 305/2011, based on EAD 350454-00-1104 and EAD 350141-00-1106.
The product is tested according to EN 1366-3, -4, and -12, with reference to EN 1363-1.
