FR IPT has already become a trusted solution for internal sealing, fire-resistant applications, air sealing, sound sealing, sanitary applications and general construction use. With Version 3, Protecta has taken the product further, delivering a sharper increase in durability, faster skin formation, improved early water resistance and enhanced adhesion across a wider range of substrates
WHAT IS PROTECTA FR IPT SEALANT?
Protecta FR IPT is a professional-quality, one-part, ready-to-use sealant and adhesive based on Inert Polymer Technology. It is designed for sealing joints, voids and irregular openings in walls, partitions and other building structures, helping to create an airtight and watertight seal.
The product remains permanently flexible, is paintable, offers strong adhesion to common construction materials and supports fire-rated sealing applications up to 4 hours’ integrity and insulation where installed in accordance with the relevant tested detail.
WHAT’S NEW IN FR IPT VERSION 3?
Faster skin formation with improved early water resistance
FR IPT Version 3 forms a protective surface more quickly, helping reduce the risk of early water damage after application. This is especially valuable in environments where conditions can change quickly or where exposure to moisture is a concern.
Tougher, more durable cure
The upgraded formulation creates a stronger and more resilient seal once cured. This improves long-term performance against weather, wear and environmental exposure, reducing the need for repair or reapplication.
Better suited for exterior applications
One of the key developments in FR IPT Version 3 is improved suitability for outdoor use. The enhanced durability and early water resistance make the product better suited to demanding site conditions and exterior sealing applications.
Improved adhesion across more substrates
FR IPT Version 3 offers excellent adhesion across a wide range of substrates, including common construction materials as well as more challenging surfaces such as glass, tiles and polyethylene. This gives installers greater confidence and flexibility across different applications.
Improved tooling and finishing
The new formulation has improved tooling properties, making it easier to achieve a clean, professional finish. For larger areas, a light mist of water can be used during application to extend finishing time and slow skin formation, giving users more time to smooth the sealant.

Fire approvals remain in place
The existing fire approvals from FR IPT Version 2 still apply to Version 3. This means customers can continue to rely on the tested fire performance of the product, while benefiting from the upgraded formulation and improved application properties.
